Pure Zero Review: An Overview
Pure Zero is a salon-quality shampoo that’s distributed by JM Brands LLC based out of Florida. What’s more, the product is marketed as being free from sulfates, parabens, and dyes. Plus, it is 100% vegan.
Thanks to its key ingredients, this product is believed to have the necessary arsenal for maximizing hair strength and boosting hydration. However, it is worth noting that those claims have not been verified by the FDA. Typically the Authority would require Pure Zero manufacturers to provide substantive scientific proof to that effect.
No doubt, this is an affordable shampoo that’s fortified with biotin. On its own, biotin is believed to have numerous benefits for hair growth. However, it is not clear how its effectiveness is affected when combined with other artificial ingredients like it is the case with Pure Zero product.

In total, this biotin-rich shampoo contains 17 ingredients. Apparently, each one of its ingredients is carefully selected to bring “salon performance” and “clean haircare” together – whatever that means. Let’s unpack its main ingredients.
Water
You’ve probably heard about it time and again that water is the main ingredient in shampoos. The main reason for that is that water is a universal solvent and so when combined with surfactants, it achieves excellent hair cleansing abilities. What’s more, water is an essential part of enabling the delivery of biotin to the hair roots as well as boosting moisture content in the hair strands.
Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate
This is the primary surfactant or base ingredient found in the Pure Zero shampoo. Simply put, surfactants are detergents that when mixed with water reduce surface tension thereby making it easier for dirt and oil to come off your hair when you clean it. It’s a common ingredient in bath and shower products and we are not aware of any allergies relating to its use so far. That said, if used on its own, it can have a drying effect on the hair.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
This is a synthetic ingredient and its main role is to boost foam formation as you wash your hair with this shampoo. As such it contributes to the overall effectiveness of this product in getting rid of oil and dirt from one’s hair.
Glycol Distearate
Made from a combination of glycerin and stearic acid, this particular ingredient is used to add a pearl-like appearance to this hair cleanser. What’s more, the fact that it contains glycerin means its more than just a pearlescent! It is a moisturizer too.
PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Coco/Isostearamide
This organic ingredient plays multiple roles. First, it is a solubilizer meaning it makes it easier for other ingredients to penetrate deeper. Besides that, it has got cleansing properties meaning it helps in the cleaning process. Above all, PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Coco/Isostearamide plays a key role in keeping hair moisturized and feeling soft.
It is worth noting that this particular ingredient is made from coconut oil and monoethanolamine (MEA) both of which are safe for use in rinse-off products.
Sodium Chloride
This particular ingredient can be controversial depending on how you look at it. First off, sodium chloride has drying properties, therefore, if your hair is typically dry and brittle you’ll want to keep off it (might cause hair to break or even shed.) On the other hand, if your hair is oily, the sodium chloride in PureZero might be beneficial.
So, before you use this product it is important that you get to understand the exact condition of your hair. Avoid it if you’re trying to rehabilitate hair that is dry and brittle.
Biotin
You’ll find biotin in almost every hair growth boosting product out there! The ingredient is added to products like shampoos owing to the belief that it can strengthen hair follicles and increase hair density.
There are dozens of research articles supporting the fact that biotin is beneficial for hair growth. That said, there isn’t much evidence to confirm its effectiveness when used along with other ingredients as is the case with this shampoo.
